“A MIDRASH ON THE PASSING OF AARON”
Rabbi Michael Marmur, Ph.D.,
Associate Professor of Jewish Theology,
Taube Family Campus, Jerusalem
The medieval text known as Midrash Petirat Aharon, a Midrash on the Passing of Aaron, tells of the relations between the Biblical siblings Miriam, Moses, and Aaron and relates to some of the challenges of leadership and humanity in every age. We will read excerpts of the text, translated and published by Rabbi Bernard Mehlman in 1980, and reflect on the passing of Aaron the High Priest and of our Aaron.
